How to Reset Audi A3 / S3 Tyre Pressure Light

The tyre pressure warning light will illuminate on the Audi A3 / S3 dashboard to inform the driver that one or more tyres is under-inflated, usually by 25% or more. After you have checked and corrected tyre pressures, the warning light may stay on. In this situation, you’ll need to reset the low tyre pressure light on your Audi A3 or Audi S3. This procedure varies depending on the year of manufacture.

Analogue Dials with Digital Window

This is to clear and reset the tyre pressure warning light from your Audi A3 dashboard using the centre digital display between the analogue dials.

  • Ensure vehicle is stationary and the engine is turned off.
  • Check and adjust if necessary all tyres using the recommended pressures (tyre pressure sticker can be found inside driver door).
  • Without starting the engine, turn the ignition key to the ON position.
  • Using the button on the end of the window wiper, enter the Display Type menu.
  • Scroll up and select Set.
  • Scroll down and select Tyre Pressure.
  • Select Store and confirm it.

Tyre Pressure / Monitor Warning and Fault Lights

There are two fault lights associated with tyre pressures and the tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) on the Audi A3 / S3.

This symbol informs the driver that a loss of pressure has occurred in at least one tyre. Check tyre pressures and correct and then store the tyre pressure in the menu.

If the tyre pressure monitor system (TPMS) light appears after you have switched the ignition on or while driving and the low pressure symbol flashes on the dashboard for approximately one minute and then stays on, there is a TPMS malfunction. Check pressure in all four tyres and store. If lights stay on, contact an authorised workshop for repair. TPMS malfunctions can occur for a variety of reasons including replacement of tyres and wheels.

Checking Tyre Pressures

Each tyre, including the spare (if provided) should have the pressures checked at least once every month, ideally when the tyres are cold. Driving on under-inflated tyres will increase fuel consumption, causes uneven wear on the tyre and reduces vehicle stability and braking ability.
