THE DRIVING TEST IN Middlewood
Test centres are often situated on the edge of towns and cities so that they make use of as many varied road and traffic system types as possible. Test centre routes are designed by the examiners who conduct practical tests at their local test centre (see driving test routes).
Middlewood Driving Test Centre features rural roads where the test will take you into country roads and villages outside of Sheffield. Busy city roads will of course be part of the test also, where you will be expected to have a high ability on many junctions, crossroads and roundabouts of all types.
In-town driving also takes you around residential streets, often narrow lanes that involve dealing with oncoming traffic whilst passing parked cars. Complex multi-lane roads such as the A61 dual carriageway also often make up part of the driving test from Middlewood. For test manoeuvres, the examiner will choose one of the possible four and from every other test conducted, the examiner requests you demonstrate the emergency stop procedure.
During the test, the examiner will pull you up on the left and explain that the independent part of the driving test will now take place. A basic map will be displayed in which you will be asked to follow from memory. They may also ask you to follow road traffic signs.

Some of the examiners are unfair
I've taken two tests here in the last 4 weeks. The first I failed as nerves got the better of me. My examiner Sue was really lovely and did her best to put me at easeanf was really fairThe second I took today and I passed. Again I got a fantastic examiner Mick. Put me totally at ease so I would like to say Thank you.for helping me achieve this at 61 yrs old.
Instructor told me to do something that ultimately he failed me for. Bad experience for the first time. Hope second time is better.
