Situated on the outskirts of Newtownards, the practical driving test from Newtownards will involve many varied road types. Test routes developed by driving examiners who work at the centre purposefully incorporate some of the most challenging roads and system within a specified radius of the test centre.
Roads likely to be used during the test will be from dual carriageways such as the A20 which start and finish at busy multi-lane roundabouts. Often rural country roads can also feature on the practical test.
The 30 – 40 minute test from Newtownards Driving Test Centre will take you in around the town itself, covering many traffic systems from larger busier junctions and crossroads into quieter residential areas where junctions can be narrow and tight.
These particular areas are often used for driving test manoeuvres purposes in which one will be requested by the examiner from a possible four. Examiner also prefer to challenge test candidates with mini roundabouts. Ensure proficiency at the emergency stop procedure as one in every three driving tests feature the procedure. Ten minutes from the test is set aside for independent driving.

My son had a driving test today with Alex. She did nothing to put him at ease and communication with him was a bare minimum. No social interaction at all. His friends have had other examiners who were cheerful and engaged in some interaction and conversation to try and make the situation less stressful. Another person in the waiting room said she is the hardest examiner at the centre. A little consideration for the candidates would go a long way.
Failed 1st time with 1 serious fault. Examiner Alex. She was super nice and polite, she explained why i failed, she looked genuinly upset that i didn't pass. She told me to book another test asap, she was sure id pass.
I book another test for the same day, at 6.30pm. Got an examiner called jason. He was polite and straightforward and made me feel at ease immediately. I passed with jason.
My experience was really good and im deeply grateful to both!
Examiner Jason asks you if you from comber when you tell him no he's reply is will this would have went a lot easier for you has a serious dislike for women messing around with the windows and air vents while you driving very unprofessional failing people for minors absolute joke .
Had a driving test with a guy with Tattoos & black hair two days ago, did nothing but make me feel awkward & not at ease. One of the worst experiences I have ever had actually. Hopefully don’t get him again.
I had an examiner Alex twice, the 1st one with her I failed and the 2nd time I passed my test. She was really pleasant, professional, soft spoken. She doesnt talk the entire test because she wants you to concentrate which i like that also. Alex is one of the good examiner in that place, if she failed you, youre not that ready for the road abd if she let you passed it means you really are like me. Thanks Alex. It was a good one.
